Signature HealthCARE of Marietta has been designated one of the nation’s ‘Best Nursing Homes‘ by U.S. News & World Report, according to a report released this week by the national news magazine.

SHC of Marietta was one of several homes operated by Louisville, Ky.-based Signature HealthCARE that were named to the list, which is compiled using data published in January by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

U.S. News has awarded the ‘Best Nursing Home’ distinction to homes that earned an overall rating of five stars, the highest rating CMS awards nursing homes. Under the five-star rating system, nursing homes are assessed in three main categories: health inspections, quality measures and staffing. The overall rating combines scores received in each of the three categories.

More than half of Signature’s facilities now have a four or five-star ranking from CMS. The company has more than doubled its number of four- and five-star buildings, from 15 in January 2009, which is roughly when CMS launched the Nursing Home Compare ratings system, to 37 currently, more than 50 percent of its nursing homes.

“This is a big win for everyone to celebrate – our leaders, our stakeholders, our families, and our communities,” said Signature President and CEO Joe Steier. “From the day Signature was founded, we knew it would take long hours, great diligence, the best leaders, and serving our facilities at the highest level possible. I cannot thank every stakeholder (employee) in the company – our great CEOs, awesome DONs, diligent nursing teams, dedicated facility department heads, amazing therapy departments, every hard-working CNA who puts on their uniform daily, and every stakeholder from dietary, housekeeping, plant operations, field warriors, Chaplains, home office revolutionaries and others – enough for the loyalty and dedication it requires to continue to serve our people and deliver the quality care they deserve!”
