Marietta, GA May 1st, 2014 – Signature HealthCARE of Marietta will host an event on Thursday, May 1, at 10:30 a.m to celebrate the National Day of Prayer.

Our theme is “In Defiance of Suffering“…One Voice United in Prayer, Thursday May 1st 2014 10:30am.

A number of special guests are scheduled to attend.

The National Day of Prayer, May 1st, 2014 will have profound significance for our country. It is an Unprecedented opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made manifest as we call on citizens to humbly come before His throne.

Emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually, to place their faith in the unfailing character of their Creator, who is sovereign over all governments, authorities, and men. The Verse chosen is Romans 15:6: “So with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

A law was enacted in 1952 formalizing observance of the day, although its origins trace back to 1775, when the first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer and melding the relationship between government and the blessings of God.

“We are proud to be part of a movement that joins people of all faiths, traditions and cultures in the practice of prayer,” said facility Administrator/CEO Valerie Hamilton.

At Signature’s Louisville headquarters, the company recognized the National Day of Prayer with an interfaith celebration of several religions and faith traditions. Representatives from a dozen religions or faiths will join to recite prayer together, signifying spiritual diversity and the importance of prayer in daily life.

“The act of unified prayer is important as a symbol of faith, but even more than that, we want this event to be actionable,” said Dianne Timmering, Vice President of Spirituality for Signature HealthCARE. “Each and every one of us suffers, in some way, maybe daily. Under this year’s theme, we want the National Day of Prayer to be a springboard for every day to be a day in defiance of suffering. We are a movement in defiance of suffering.”

The event will be simulcast live to all 96 Signature nursing homes, which each hosted their own unique National Day of Prayer celebrations.

“As a faith-based company, we are proud to host an event that brings together so many spiritual groups,” said Signature President and CEO Joe Steier. “We hope many will join us to celebrate this historic day.”
