Expansion. Adaptation. Innovation.
These words, in many ways, defined 2014 for Signature HealthCARE. The Revolution brought our total number of locations to 125. We welcomed new centers to the family and took pivotal steps to position SHC as an integrated care network capable of meeting health care needs across the full spectrum of care. We expanded into new business lines while continuing to enhance and invest in existing service offerings.
This Veterans Day, Signature HealthCARE would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our nation’s military veterans, and those still actively serving. We especially want to thank all of our residents and stakeholders who served our country.
Happy Veterans Day from the Signature family to yours.
For those unable to attend a SHC Hall of Fame ceremony, we’re bringing the celebration to you with four sites that were selected to have their ceremonies broadcast live via our website.
On October 9, 2014, 99 Signature HealthCARE centers across the southeast and midwest will induct over 400 distinguished individuals into the Hall of Fame, in local ceremonies featuring celebrity speakers and presentations about the inductees lives and accomplishments.
When I got here in June, Signature of Marietta had already been partners with Second Wind Dreams, a non-profit organization with a mission ‘to change the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of innovative educational opportunities to caregivers and communities.’
I was contacted by Krystle Hillery, a ‘dream weaver’ for SWD, and we started asking patients about various things they would love to do if possible (another patient was sent to the Atlanta Aquarium, etc.) Krystle emailed to let me know about the Braves game. I suggested our Albert because he has been a lifelong baseball fan and is a huge Braves fan.
From there, we just worked it out until it all came together. His brother, John Umphlett, also attended and was able to spend a very special night with Albert. Albert stayed until well into the 8th inning and was beaming the entire time – he did not take his eyes off the field! He was even taken out on the field to meet second baseman Phil Gosselin, who gave him a hat and shirt. When we reunited, Albert was so excited he could barely get the words out! When I told Albert he was on TV, he grinned from ear to ear.
We got back to the facility after 11 and I was whooped, but not Albert. He asked, “Do I have to go to bed now?” It was a wonderful night, and I feel so blessed to have been able to be there for it.

The Hall Of Fame is an innovative Quality of Life Program developed by Signature HealthCARE designed to honor the lives and accomplishments of our patients, stakeholders, volunteers, and others who have had such an impact on our centers, communities, and nation.
On October 9, 2014, 87 Signature HealthCARE centers across the southeast and midwest will induct over 350 distinguished individuals into the Hall of Fame, in local ceremonies featuring celebrity speakers and presentations about the inductees lives and accomplishments.
This event, which we believe is the largest and only of its kind, is an opportunity for us to extend gratitude to those who have given so much to our centers, communities and country. They come from all walks of life – war veterans and feminist icons to inventors, professional athletes, philanthropists and much more. We are proud to count them among those we serve and can only continue to benefit from their presence. The Hall of Fame ceremonies are a special day to hold them up as shining examples of human potential.
Mrs. Cora will be only spending a short time with us at Signature Healthcare of Marietta for physical and occupational therapy.
Her family bought wonderful accents to make her room comfortable and cozy with her taste in mind. What a great expression of love! We welcome families to bring pictures, pillows and flowers.
A special day at Smith Gilbert Gardens. Thanks to Second Wind Dreams a resident of Signature Healthcare of Marietta was able to spend time planting flowers, bird watching and gardening.
The Second Wind Dreams organization provides dreams for nursing home residents to enjoy something they used to love doing or something they wish they could do again.
Since 1997, SWD has become involved in more than 400 eldercare communities in 40 states, and Canada. Weaving thousands of dreams from the simple to the sublime.
The mission of Second Wind Dreams® (SWD) is simple — to change the perception of aging through the fulfillment of dreams and the offering of innovative educational opportunities to caregivers and communities.
