Signature HealthCARE of Marietta has been named to U.S. News & World Report’s 2012 ranking of the nation’s top nursing homes.
The news magazine and website each year publishes a list of the best nursing homes in the United States based on data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). One in seven Americans aged 65 and older will spend time in one of the nation’s 16,000 nursing homes this year, according to the U.S. News & World Report website. For Americans 85 and older, the chances increase to greater than one in five, meaning a total of 3.3 million U.S. residents will spend time in a nursing home this year.
The purpose of the list, the site says, is to help millions of Americans and their families find quality nursing home care. CMS gives nursing homes a star rating based on key metrics including staffing, health inspections and quality. An aggregate star rating is awarded based on scores in individual categories. Nursing homes can rank as low as one star or as high as five.
“We’re thrilled to be named among the nation’s best nursing homes and will do our best to continue providing compassionate, quality care and programming for our residents and staff,” said Patrick Fellers, Administrator at SHC of Marietta.
